Hayley Rees

Owner & Founder of BeHave With Hayley

I am a qualified and experienced dog trainer and teacher. I have been studying dog behaviour and working with dogs for many years. I worked for Dogs Trust for 7 years, have been running my own dog behaviour business and studying for prestigious qualifications in the field.

I also have over 20 years of experience in education and I am a trained coach.

I want to bring to you my vast knowledge and skills, to help you with whatever dog behaviour challenge you want to work on.

Dogs are my absolute passion in life and as such, I have built my work and personal life around them.

"It can be a minefield choosing a dog trainer, and wondering if they have the right education and approach to help you with whatever issue you are facing. Unfortunately, it is an unregulated industry; literally anyone can call themselves a dog trainer"

I want to help you understand your dog,  as I feel they are a hugely misunderstood species. We misinterpret dogs, we label them, and we try to change their behaviour, often ineffectively. I can bring a new understanding, along with kind, effective ways to change behaviour. Having such a positive impact on the lives of dogs and their owners is a wonderful thing to be able to do.

I left Dogs Trust in 2023 after 7 years where I held the roles of Senior Dog Trainer, Education Officer and Team Leader for Wales on the Freedom Project, which supports people and their dogs fleeing domestic abuse. I have been running dog training classes, supporting owners via 121 sessions, and teaching about dogs for 10 years, both in Dogs Trust and as part of BeHave with Hayley.

I have taught hundreds of people on a whole host of dog-related topics, I’ve worked in primary schools, prisons, community groups, pupil referral units, family sessions, secondary schools and lots more.

I am a graduate of The Academy for Dog Trainers, a world-leading training academy run by one of the world’s principal experts in dog training and behaviour. I undertook extensive training and education in dog training and behaviour, along with effectively coaching owners, to bring about desired behaviour change.

I am a full member of The International Canine Behaviourists and am working towards becoming a Clinical Animal Behaviourist

I am currently working towards the prestigous accreditation of Clinical Animal Behaviourist with the ABTC and have passed the knowledge & understanding element.

Alongside my level 3 & 4 Dog Practitioner Certificate, I am a qualified teacher holding a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, and skilled at teaching others, be that dogs or humans!

I was voted in the Top 3 Dog Trainers in the Vale in 2024 & 2025, only one year after starting my business.

I have undertaken hundreds of hours of professional development including webinars, seminars, shadowing and reading. I never stop learning, I always want to know more, so I can provide the best support to owners and dogs.

I am lucky to be a lifelong member of the Academy for Dog Trainers. This means I have  constant access to a highly skilled and experienced community of dog professionals.
